Day 3

day 3, no sunshine, no surprises, i miss sunshine...

it's a nice enough day to go on a hike around dalham like i planned yesterday.  i just wish i would have packed some wellies or galoshes instead of 2 pair of flips.

i'm wet but at least it stopped raining, thank goodness i have this fanny pack.

today is slow...

i somehow managed to step in a huge pile of cow manure after ike warned me at least 20 times singing, "don't step in the cow poop!"

i had my first bout with stinging nettle.  i hate you!

i'm wet again, this time it's still raining but i've found shelter underneath some trees.

my first hike around dahlam was awesome! this place is so incredible.  so lush and so green green but so grey! it's so gloomy! i feel like i have to shoot everything in black and white to compensate for the poor lighting.  the only place i've had to do that was serbia but that was because of the former communistic theme and drab feeling...

so i've figured out my path back to croatia.  i'm taking the bus to paris, spending at least a day or so there, then i train through to rome and venice, ferry over to croatia where i stay for around 9 days then back track! i'm SO stoked! i can't wait!

Day 2

so it's official, i'm a mom! well let's say dad, even though i'm really playing sarah's role. i got the kids ready, had breakfast, put together ike's invites for his birthday party, drove em to school and now i'm at their end of school year party taking pictures.  mr mom...

it's just as cloudy and gloomy as it was yesterday if not worse.  sarah said it's been way sunny and hot.  i think she's just fibbing! look i'm a brit

i have a new found appreciation for my mom.  i love you! even though watching the kids is pretty much hell, i'm a pro.  today i cooked, cleaned, drove, disciplined, wiped, washed and still had time to watch like 3 dozen princess movies! it's all been fun and plenty worth it knowing that i'm buying my tickets through france and italy all the way to croatia.  i'm actually thinking about throwing greece and spain into the mix! sweet!

it's been rainy all day so i had to cancel my hikes, walks and bike rides that i had planned.  bummer

i just took a shower and most of the time i take 3 minute showers but today i was in no rush what so ever.  it was like the only break i had and it was AWESOME! for that reason i'm making sure that when i build my own house i make sure and include the best shower/tub money can buy! i wouldn't let my wife have kids without it!

europe is crazy! culture, people, everything! i know it's not the case but i associate the english accent with sophistication so when i talk to people i feel like they are thinking "who is this american punk?" once again i think it's all part of the european experience...

i'm buying my tickets!

Day 1

-it's 5:30 MST, i fell asleep (because of sleep deprivation) on the picadilly line, kinda scary but woke up and all my stuff was still here.  i'm taking that as a good sign.  it smells exactly like i emagined london would smell like...
-it's a weird feeling traveling across one of the world's largest cites alone.  i have no idea where i am!?!?  ha! crazy! i've forgotten how strange it feels being so far away from home.  not that i'm already in the least bit home sick, just feeling distant and isolated but that's kinda why it's so exciting!

-so i took the wrong train and have to back rack a bit!  all part of the adventure right? i changed some money at the exchange office too.  apparently 20 US dollars is only like 9 pounds?  LAME! where did all my money go? not towards food to feed my hungry, growling belly.

-so i've been in great britain now for around 5 hours and i FINALY got a old of sarah and steve so all isn't lost.  ha! i'm starving and i can't decide if today is just a gloomy cloudy day or if i can expect this kind of weather for the duration of my stay? no wonder i'm the tannest person here! i haven't seen or felt the warmth of the sun yet!

-45 min route took about 3 hours! why? no idea!

so i'm finally "home" or what i can call home for 2 weeks.  it's so incredible.  i feel like i'm on the set of babe.  rolling grassy hills, sheep, rabbits, horses, thatched roofs, cobble stone, so foreign to me.  my life flashed before my eyes atleast 3 times as i tried to learn the ropes on the road driving on the left side.  it's pretty intense.  we spent some time on the base where i instantly felt like i was back in provo.  there i made the greatest find though.  spring fresh deodorant!  "advanced european formula with deoderm, an innovative witch hazel nut and oak derived odor blocker." ha, all natural stuff, it looks like it was made from tree sap!  well i've traveled a long way today, in and outside of great britain! i'm tired, i'm going to sew up my fanny pack and go to bed!

-oh yeah...i love izzie, aerie, ike and zoie!
